As you may have noticed I am still ranking number 1 for the term Amigos Malta and a bunch of other Amigos related keywords. Since I have been ranking for these terms for almost a year now and Amigos current SEO efforts are pretty poor it seems I will keep getting their traffic for a while. At the moment I am getting between 10-30 visitors a day searching for Amigos related stuff, this is traffic that should and would go to the official Amigos website if they would care enough about protecting their brand on the internet.
At the moment it doesn’t really matter to Amigos that I’m getting their traffic since I am linking to their official site from my post and what I have written about their food (not SEO efforts) is positive. But what if I was a customer who had a bad experience or even worse, a competitor looking to bad mouth your brand. Imagine the 10-30 visitors I am getting every day reading all kinds of bad publicity about the Amigos Restaurant and their food. Now that wouldn’t be too good for their brand and their business would surely take a dive as most of these people would choose another restaurant instead after reading the poor reviews.
This is why it’s extremely important to protect your brand online and to make sure that you are ranking in the number one spot for your own brand name. The internet is full of people looking to share their every move so it’s inevitable that your brand will at some point be mentioned by someone who had a bad experience. That’s fine, it happens. But it’s not ok when these bad reviews start ranking in the top 10 results for your brand name.
Be smart, protect your brand!
